Birthday Outfit

Hola Amigos!

Yesterday I celebrated my 17th birthday. It was an amazing day and I’m so grateful to be loved by so many amazing people!

It was kind of a muggy, rainy, unpredictable day but I still wanted to look nice so I wore light breezy pieces. I bought this top at the J.Crew outlet a couple of weeks ago for only 10 dollars! And then I picked up these wedges yesterday for only 15 dollars at DSW! I paired them with earth tones which I have been loving. I think that they work well with tan skin and my dark hair. It also makes them outfits look instantly more polished and chic.

Chicago Day 4

Hola Amigos!

Today was our final day in the beautiful Chicago. I’m so sad to leave Chicago but I’m so happy that I was able to come here. I have always wanted to travel here. It’s exciting to think that I could be spending the next fours years here!

I decided to wear some of the pieces I picked up in Chicago on my trip. As the shopaholic that I am, I had to of course stop into some of my favorite stores from home along with some new boutiques and such. Some people may think that it’s pointless to shop at the same places that you have at home but I disagree. If you like that store shop there! It’s all about the memory surrounding it. I always remember that I grabbed these jeans and this top on my amazing trip to Chicago, who cares whether I could have gotten them at home.

Chicago Day 3

Hola Amigos!

Clearly Chicago is still amazing. The weather is continually amazing and the people are the nicest. It’s weird to come from an area where everyone is so consumed on where they’re going and what they’re doing. People will ask if you need help with directions or wait for you to cross the street. Even today when we were on the subway the conductor encouraged us to spread happiness by smiling at everyone. A nice thing to think about in our busy day to day lives.

I may or may not have stolen this shirt from one of friends… anyway I love how beachy it is even though I’m in the city. It’s a light sweater material which I topped with my trusty jean vest. Finally, I added my black and white J.crew necklace to make it nice enough for the city. full1closedownsitting3full2sittingcloseupsitting2

Chicago Day 2

Hola Amigos,

Today was another beautiful day in Chicago. I love summer in the city because you are able to walk everywhere and spend time outside. We went to the University of Chicago which had a beautiful campus. Then we stopped by Navy Pier for dinner as the sun was setting. So yeah it was a pretty good day.

I recently discover Charming Charlie Boutique. It’s a costume jewelry, clothing, and accessory store. It may become an addiction because everything is so cheap! The store is set up like every girl’s dream closet, broken up by styles and colors of the accessories. I bought my shirt and scarf for less than $30! Wearing them together is a good way for me to try out pattern mixing.  By keeping one print minimal in color and pattern and the other a little bit bolder the mixing is seamless.

Chicago Day 1

Hola Amigos!

I’m spending this week in Chicago looking at colleges. So far the city the city has been amazing. I may be a little biased however because I am a huge city lover. I love that the city makes you feel that you are a part of something and that you are never alone. I’m really excited to see he schools here because I can see myself fitting into Chicago.

To keep cool in the summer heat I decided to wear a breezy top and cute shorts. I actually nabbed this top from one of my friends when she was cleaning her closet. These shorts were a pickup last year from H&M. The pastel pink color is one of my favorites always and it’s extra cute in the gingham print.

One of my favorite recent purchases were these white low top converse. I have been eyeing them for awhile and now that I have them I can’t stop wearing them. You have been warned that they may appear in the next 25 blog posts.

Fake Romper?

Hola Amigos!

Rompers are a huge trend for the summer. However, being so tall I find it hard to find rompers that are long enough and fit my body. Today I stumbled upon a solution to my problem. I matched a black sheer tank top with these casual scalloped shorts. The colors and fabrics matched so perfectly that it looked like a fake romper, a fromper. Several people even complimented me on my “romper”

I paired the simple black outfit with a jean jacket. I think this would also look cute with a light chambray shirt. You could even dress it up with heels and a statement necklace. smilewallleaningwall

To finish off the outfit I added a layered gold necklace. I love black outfits with gold jewelry. It is a simple touch, yet it pulls the entire outfit together. necklacewall

Easy Summer Outfit

Hola Amigos!

Whoops once again I’ve neglected my blog…. sometimes life just gets in the way. But now that it’s summer I’m ready to post more regularly. Today’s outfit is one I find myself wearing more than not on hot summer days. I start with comfy lace shorts and pair them with a striped tee. I think that lace and crochet can be treated as a solid because it pairs perfectly with minimal prints like stripes and small florals.

Today it was little cooler by the water so I brought a light jacket to layer. This jacket is one of my current favorites.I love the peachy color, especially with white and black.  I may or may not have it in another color and considered getting it in a third.

To keep the easy vibe of this outfit I kept the jewelry minimal silver pieces. For once I’m not wearing a giant statement necklace. closeup

Teen Vogue Fashion University Day 3

Hola amigos! The third day of Teen Vogue was both an exciting and sad day. My only seminar was with Erika Bearman or the PR girl for Oscar de La Renta. She was beautiful and amazing. She talked about how she got to where she is now. The seminar took a sad turn when she told us about Oscar’s death in October. But on a happier note she really inspired us with her advice to be yourself.

Finally, we were given our diplomas and free to go. It was kind of disappointing because I had hoped that there would have been some kind of ceremony. However, I had a great weekend so I wasn’t too upset.

This weekend was incredible and it doesn’t even feel real. I worked so hard to get here that it feels almost too satisfying that it happened. I have never completed a goal this big that I’m not really sure to act now. I’m still processing the fact that it happened, but I’ll keep you updated. I will definitely post about what I learned this weekend!

Teen Vogue Fashion University Day 2

Hola amigos!

The second day of Teen Vogue Fashion University was definitely the best. A full day of classes seems short when you actually enjoy what you are learning. My first class was Michelle Phan, a Youtuber turned business owner. Not only was she beautiful and powerful (she got ready in 5 minutes and still looked flawless), she also gave great advice about finding time for yourself during your busy life. Even better, she was interviewed by Amy Astley, the editor in chief of Teen Vogue.

My second class of the day was photographer and stylist Clairborne Swanson Frank. This was probably one of my favorite classes of the day. Every student there was so determined and powerful in their own right that her past and eventual success reminded me that failure is okay. Plus, she is an amazing photographer and I loved seeing her amazing photo books.

My third class of the day was with Kate Davidson Hudson; not the movie star. She runs a magazine called the Editorialist that focuses solely on accessories. What I thought was really cool was that she created an industry that was completely new. The magazine comes out only four times a year, twice in print, twice online. What makes the magazine different is that they work with designers to create pieces straight off the runway and available to the average customer.

After lunch, I went to the Teen Vogue Editor’s Panel. I was really excited for this event because it is my ultimate dream to work at a fashion magazine. The editor-in-chief moderated along with the Beauty editor, Entertainment editor, the Public relations person, and the social media guru. They opened up the whole time period for questions. However, they didn’t call on me. The questions answered really gave us insight in what it is to work at a Fashion magazine, even if you don’t directly work with the style aspect.

Next, I went to another panel, this one with three influential bloggers. This was moderated by Andrew Bevan and included the blogger College Prepster. They talked about how to have a successful blog and how to make the transition from part-time to full-time blogger.

Finally, I attended a class led by Hannah Bronfman. She created the Beautified app and runs She had great advice about starting your own business based on what your love. Then she broke us up into groups and had us come up with a product to present to her. I was in the fitness group and we came up with a phone accessory that you can wear when you work out that uses your kinetic energy to charge your phone. She loved the idea and I even heard other people talking about it later in the day!

To finish the day we attended a mix and mingle with all of the employees of Teen Vogue. There was food, drinks, and a little pop-up shop. I got to talk to Andrew Bevan again and he even pointed out my and some girl’s matching, baby pink, jackets. Maybe a new spring trend? One of the surprises from Teen Vogue was an exhibit based on the new Cinderella movie, including an original Zac Posen dress!

Teen Vogue Fashion University Day 1

Hola Amigos!

I’m so excited about this post! Since I began reading Teen Vogue I have wanted to attend the Teen Vogue Fashion University. This year I was finally old enough to apply to three day seminar in New York City. By some miracle, myself and 549 other fashion-lovers were chosen out of the thousands who applied. I am studying under the major Editorial, Social, and PR. The weekend has finally come and one of dreams is finally coming true!

Yesterday was the Kick off Party at Express in Time Square. My favorite journalist Andrew Bevan was there along with some other Fashion executives from the magazine. We had time to meet other attendees, along with shopping exclusives. They also had cute activities like flip book making, flash tattoos, mocktails, and eyelash extensions.

More than anything, I was inspired by everyone else’s personal style. It was like my favorite Pinterest  posts came to life. I was also able to meet journalist Andrew Bevan. He was so sweet and he gave me great advice about breaking through as a fashion journalist. He told me to refine my writing skills in order to access my dream job. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the weekend holds!
